As beautiful as the beaches are, if I go to India, I want to check out other things. You can see beaches anywhere. Chances are, you can take a day trip from wherever you currently live and visit a beach. I want to visit India to see temples and eat authentic Indian food.

There is so much to India, you could make several trips and never see it all. The hard part is, where do you start?

From what I've heard, it only happens there every 12 years, and the last one was in 2013. I believe it happens elsewhere in between. I was told that the one that is celebrated in Holy Sangam in Allahabad is the best.

I can understand the attraction, because living in a big city, you really miss the beach. However, I can pretty much visit a beach in my own country, even if it is a bit of a drive. When travelling to a different country, I would much rather see some native sites. Who knows when I will ever have...

I love the sound of a paradise on earth! I seem to find that with most vacation resorts I visit, though. I wish I could live there and never have to go back to the humdrum of home.

A friend of mine recently advised me against visiting Pakistan while on vacation in India. She told me that there is a bit of a confilct at the moment, and it may be frowned upon. Does anyone know if this is true, and if so, what kind of problem it could cause for a traveller?

I can't believe a place as beautiful as that is not overrun by tourists! I believe people tend to flock to big cities and ocean beaches. I can see those anywhere. Give me the peace and tranquility over any of that stuff.

I am not very familiar with they way seasons run in Mumbai, but a quick check of the Mumbai weather online just now shows warm and sunny for the next several weeks. Today it is a nice 88F. No chance of a white Christmas there!

Train rides are awesome. You get to see much more of the country that way. Especially if you only have a short time to spend on such a trip.

I am not a huge drinker, however, I do enjoy an occasional cocktail every now and then. Are there any special exotic cocktails that India is famous for? Are there any that I could actually make myself?

Good advice! I certainly wouldn't want to remember India as a place where I contracted some incurable disease. I will be sure to have my doctor check my shot records, to see if I am up to date.

Don't get me wrong - I love the beach! But I prefer to find those out of the way places that are not full of people. I can't see how people can enjoy the crowds while on vacation.

Now, THAT sounds very interesting to me. I've never seen anything like that in any Indian restaurant I've ever visited. I am looking forward to making other food discoveries!

You are fortunate to be able to visit every year. I, myself, prefer smaller bed and breakfasts. It is more personal, and the locals can usually reccomend places to visit that others don't even know about.
