LMackey, do you mean the auto-rickshaws or the type where the man is pedalling a regular bicycle at the front? If it's the latter then I would say it would be slower.

Most cruises expect you to have insurance to cover the cost of an emergency evacuation, whether by air or a smaller vessel, but as others have said, this would most likely only cover the passenger, who would need to be in a life threatening situation. Even then it depends on how far from land...

I agree with Arthnel. This sounds like an amazing thing to try, though I may delay the experience until the end of my visit in case I develop a serious addiction.

As I plan to see as much of the world as possible I often add a couple of short side trips to my main destination. This usually works out to be two or three days in a neighbouring or close by country, and so far it's been a good way to expand my travel horizons. I could well make a short side...

My main piece of advice would be to plan your itinerary carefully. Kids and parents don't always enjoy doing the same things, so let everyone have a chance to pick at least one thing they really want to do. I also think little kids get tired really easily in the heat, although at ages 11 and 9...

I like hanging out in a hotel's coffee shop. You often get to meet interesting people, and of course people watching is fun. Sometimes I even choose accommodation based on the cafe facilities the place offers.

You definitely need ONE blank page, so you could probably get away with it, but if there's time before you leave maybe you can get extra pages added? It's hard to say if you would need them, partly it depends on your nationality and where you are travelling from.

There must be a place that offers this, though most jeep tours I have seen advertised are more general than specialized. Why not try an elephant safari where you ride one? They are much more environmentally friendly than car based trips.

Thanks Amelia. I think India seems to be a pretty neutral and friendly country, kind of like the Switzerland of Asia perhaps. :) That fits with the friendly and welcoming nature of the people.

I know some countries have very specific rules about not allowing you entry if you have been to a place on their restricted list, and others may well let you in but it's not guaranteed. Are there any issues like this for visitors to India?

I never thought about the difference between a cocktail and a mixed drink, maybe because we tend to use the word cocktail for anything with more than one ingredient. I did a bit of reading and it seems that a true cocktail needs a second alcohol source, would you agree? I also found a recipe...

I think India recently extended the list of nationalities eligible to apply for a visa on arrival, but for some reason British people are excluded. Someone just mentioned the e-visa, I may check that out and see what the rules are.
