    Cadbury's Chocolate?

I can also confirm that they DO have Cadbury's chocolate in India :) They sure are amazing and what a relief it was to see them there. As you can tell, I'm quite a big fan as well. Especially those roasted almond ones. They're magic!

    Herbal Teas

I don't think you'll have any problems at the customs at all. If you do feel, however, that the couple of boxes you're planning on bringing are far too much, it's best if the package is opened and not sealed. This way, they'll know for sure that you're not planning on selling them. Good luck!

    Naan

My dear aunt was quite a pro at making naan and she used to say that the most special ingredient for naan is ghee. Ghee is kind of like butter but it's much softer like margarine. She used to say that any flour could be used to make a naan but only ghee could make an amazing naan. Can this be...

When Is The Best Time To Visit India?

I'd strongly recommend going between the month of October to March. But then again, that'll also depend on which part of India you're planning to go to. Most parts will remain warm even during the winter season but if you go up north, it can get quite humid making it completely freezing. I...

    Best Destination In Nepal

Happy to help, @amelia88. I'm glad to hear that's something you would really enjoy. Sounds like you appreciate nature a lot and that's so nice to hear. These boat rides are fantastic and beyond incredible for me. There's actually a small temple in the middle of the lake that you can visit...

India And Pakistan Tensions, Is It Safe For Travel?

I couldn't agree more with what you're saying, @pwarbi. Travelling, to me, is another kind of education that I think everyone ought to experience at least once in their lives. Books and theories aside, I can't think of anything better than these practical lessons we learn when we travel on top...

Have You Ever Met A Sadhu In India?

I can completely understand your fascination and your curiosity towards sadhus. If you go to Varanasi, you're bound to meet loads of them everywhere. They're certainly one of the most interesting people I have had the pleasure to interact with. Not many of them speak English, however, only a...

    Best Destination In Nepal

Hey @amelia88, I think the picture you saw is probably at Phewa Tal (Fewa Lake). You can certainly take a boat ride or row your own boat as you please. They're certainly not privately owned. Those paddle boats are really fun and they're not as light as they look. If you're down by the lake side...

India And Pakistan Tensions, Is It Safe For Travel?

Hearing about you guys speak of family life, I can totally relate to that. Travelling does seem like a luxury to me lately despite the many holidays my family has taken. It just doesn't feel quite the same. When my little guy turns 8, I think it'd be a great age for us to do a bit of...

    Tap Water Vs. Bottled Water

Oh, my. I was actually mentioning this on another thread just yesterday. I was saying how paranoid I was when I first arrived in India that I had gone to the point of brushing my teeth with bottled water. With what you've just said, I feel less stupid now :)

    Tap Water Vs. Bottled Water

Your parents are absolutely right on this. I wouldn't touch the tap water in India even with a ten foot pole. No matter how strong of an immune system you think you have, I think it's best to avoid it altogether. Prevention here would be much better than cure.

    Water Filter

I wouldn't worry about that if I were you. While it may be convenient, there are lots of bottled water that are available at every corners of India. But yes, I definitely recommend that you stay away from the tap water or well water in any parts of India. I was so paranoid at one point when I...

    Roasting Spices

One other spice they like to roast are cumin seeds. I do this too when I make Indian curry at home and the smell when sautéed with shallots are mighty heavenly. Have you tried this before?

    Can Men Share Rooms?

There's certainly not a problem with having two guys sharing the same room or even two girls sharing the same room really. In fact, it's quite common actually. They would simply think that your friends are friends and that's pretty much all there will be to it. I would tell your friends not to...
