Best Places to Visit in Kerala

For some reason, I don't think of "tropical beauty" when I think of India. I think more of arid deserts. This sounds very enchanting, and I will have to look up these locations for future trips.

    $100 Fee For Tourist Visa

When I travelled to Europe, I didn't have to pay anything for a visa. However, I was only planning on being there for 3 weeks. Does the timeframe make a difference, or is just India, in general?

    Indian Flat Bread

Thank you for this information! I did not know the official name, other than it was a type of flatbread, and from your descriptions above, you are correct. I believe I was talking about the rot. However, you have made me very interested in the other types, and I definitely want to give them a try.

I've never heard of that dish. It does sound delicious. I may not wait for a trip to India. I think I am going to do a search for a recipe for that fried potatoes and chutney now!

    $100 Fee For Tourist Visa

Is that standard? I never realized you had to pay that much money for a visa for anywhere. Or is it just if one wants to stay for 6 months?

Where to book a taxi from Mumbai Airport?

Aren't there any number of taxis waiting outside at the airport? I would think this is pretty much standard at any major airport in the world.

    Indian Flat Bread

I love Indian flatbread, especially when it is homemade. I prefer it to tortillas for most dishes, even Mexican-style. I am only familiar with a traditional-style flatbread. Does anyone know if there are any other variations?

    Chutney

Mango chutney is pretty much the most popular, and one that is pretty easy to find in the US. However, I am not sure if mango chutney is native to India. India does have a lot of different varieties, however, and I'm on a quest to try more.

    Highlights Of Central India

The deserts of India are supposed to be some of the most beautiful. There is no way I would travel all the way there to just hang out at a beach! Although, a vacation is a vacation, and I would manage to get a little beach and sun time in, for sure.

Like the others here, I was intrigued by the sound of the vada pav. I don't believe I've ever tried anything like that. It certainly sounds like something I will be looking to try!

    Desserts With Saffron?

I recently had a dessert that was made with saffron as a main ingredient - saffron panna cotta. It was very delicious. I had never thought to use saffron as a seasoning in a dessert. Does anyone know if there are any other traditional Indian desserts which saffron? I'd love to try some others.

    Chutney

It just took me a while to get used to the fruit and spicy mixtures of the first chutneys I had ever tried. Now I think it's just awesome!

    Any Places To Avoid?

Oh, gosh! I didn't even think about the dress code! I would hope that if I wear jeans and a T-shirt that would be acceptable. Right?
