You can book trips that cruise the interior waters of India. They take you by villages and make stops along the way. Go online and enter boat cruises in India and it will bring up a few of coast and river cruises.

It depends on where you go. If it's a large city you will see young people dress in western clothing. I think they prefer you cover your shoulders and legs but they also know you are a tourist, so I'm sure they won't hold anything against you.

I haven't been to India yet but I've already gotten ahead of myself and am looking forward to at least 3 visits there to see as much as I can. As a traveler most people know that there are things you may not like and that sometimes stuff happens, that shouldn't keep you from enjoying India.

If the weather is hot and humid then the beaches would be the best place. I think for traveling and touring you'd be better off in November and December. Right now it is hot and humid 70 degrees.

I don't know that I'd do this. How do you know the reviews are legitimate and not just the owner posting as different people to give him/herself good reviews? I think my instinct would be to avoid these types of places.

I agree with everything said above. Don't lie and just be truthful. Make sure you have a list of things you want to do but know she won't, that way it backs you up when you explain why you are going alone.
