    Tourist places in Madhya Pradesh

There are actually quite a few well known places in MP that are quite underrated. The Khajuraho temples are pretty amazing, some of the greatest Hindu temples in India. Of course they're quite inappropriate to look at so it may not be the best place for a family holiday. The Sanchi Stupa is a...

Best places to visit in Kolkata

The main thing to visit in Kolkata I know of is the Victoria Memorial. There are a number of other British Era buildings in Kolkata as well, since it used to be the capital of British India for a while . The Writer's Building is one of the other famous British buildings there. The Kolkata Museum...

    Places to visit in Sikkim

One place you should have on your itinerary is the Kanchendzonga National Park. It just recently became included in UNESCO's lists of world heritage sites. I've unfortunately never been there myself, but from what I know of it , it seems great. Within the park there is the Kanchendzonga...

What is the Indian monument you visited that you liked the most?

Yeah I expected the Taj Mahal to be a common answer here. I think the Taj would be among my favourites for sure, it certainly lived up to my expectations. But the fact that is one of the most famous monuments in the world that slightly detracts from the experience. I enjoy coming across things I...

    India to USA flight time

I've been to the USA from India and back a few times via Lufthansa. Excluding layover time, the flight was approximately 19 hours from Mumbai to Chicago. Delhi to JFK would be around the same time, maybe a bit shorter. With the layover in between, it was like one 10 hour flight followed by a 9...

What's the best airport you've been to?

The new Mumbai airport is incredibly good. I love the architecture and the lighting. The ambience of the airport is just so calming. A close competitor is the Doha airport. Once again it has amazing architecture.

    Instagram For Travel Inspiration

I do follow a few travel photography instagram accounts. And yes it has made me want to go and visit many of the places I see in the pictures. As people have said they do make places seem more scenic than they actually are. But I like to go to places and 'find' the scenic part of it even if...

    Best history museums

The Indian Museum in Kolkata is supposed to be a very good museum. I haven't been to it myself but I've heard of it from friends and from what I've read of it online I'd assume that it is one of the better museums in the country. Indian Museum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Jaipur

It's pretty good if you like visiting monuments, there are a number of them in the city. There are some great hotels as well. It's one of the most typical cities to visit in the country, although I think there are better options available in the state of Rajasthan. Jodhpur and Udaipur both seem...

What is the Indian monument you visited that you liked the most?

I think mine would be the Gwalior fort. It is huge and not very crowded and I went there as a kid and wandered around and got lost. It was late in the evening and it really felt like you'd been transported in time. The sound and light show there was pretty epic as well.

Historical places in India with pictures and information

Not quite sure what you're looking for but I'll give it a shot. This is Humayun's tomb in Delhi. The Emperor Humayun was the second emperor of the Mughal Empire which was an Islamic Empire. It was built between 1569-1570.

What is the thing you least look forward to before travelling to India?

I myself don't like the inevitable sickness during the first few weeks.

    Lesser Known Hill Stations?

Well there are a number of hill stations in North Eastern India that are pretty great. Darjeeling is probably the most well known one and although I haven't been there, it seems more or less like the typical Indian hill station with tea plantations, a mountain railway and colonial architecture...

    Cultural Expectations?

Well the thing with the left hands is true even in India. Don't kiss anyone in public. There really isn't anything more that I can think of off the top of my head. But there are many things that you would consider rude that most people in India wouldn't. Expect everyone to stare at you because...

    Traveling light--are there laundromats?

Well we have washing machines at our homes if we want them. But like I said traditionally washing clothes is done by people. They're called Dhobis and they usually colect clothes from a number of houses and take it to their place where they wash them, iron them and bring them back. This of...
