Holy Rats Karni Mata Rat Temple

I've heard of this place where the rats are revered and sacred. I've seen a picture of them drinking from a bowl of milk. Don't think I'd visit that one as I can't stand rats or mice.

    Bhutan, A Paradise On Earth

That is a pretty comprehensive description of Bhutan. Thanks ChaiNashta, this is really helpful. I love to hear about the things to see in an area and your post certainly helped. It seems India is a real jewel with all the different places to visit.

    Tree Bridges In Cherrapunji, Meghalaya

Has anyone been to see the tree bridges in Cherrapunji? The rubber trees grow their roots in such a way that they can be trained to create a walking bridge from tree to tree. The pictures look fantastic and show people walking on them.

    Black Magic In Mayong, Assam

Do they still practice black magic in Mayong? I've heard there is a museum in Mayong that shows relics of black magic. Do some of the people still hang on to old traditions of using magic?

    Highlights Of Central India

There is City of Pearls in Central India that features bazaars and shopping. You can spend the morning walking through the shops looking at the jewelry, spice and art shops. It is supposed to be a lively and colorful place to visit.

    Alcoholic Drinks

Is there an alcoholic drink that is a common drink in India. Like some people in other countries, do they have a wine or alcohol that they drink with their dinner? Is there a drink specific to India that is a must-try drink?

What Foods Would You Recommend I Try When I Visit India

These do sound good and are making me hungry for Indian food. I had a coworker who was Indian and they had a bunch of us over for dinner one night. The food was excellent and I couldn't remember all the Indian names if you asked me. There were curry dishes, peanut dishes and more that I...

Do They Have Family Homes You Can Stay In?

Somewhat like a bed and breakfast place? I believe you could probably find some of these on the Airbnb site by just typing in India.

Six Less Known Historical Places In India

Those are beautiful photos of truly majestic views. Why are they not shown on travel sites? I love old historical places and these look like wonderful places to visit.

How Do You Save Up For Your Travels?

I have a slush fund where any extra money I have goes into it. I just deposit it and don't look at it until I need to. That way I'm not tempted to spend it on new things instead of my trips.

    Backpack Or Suitcase?

If you are going from hotel to hotel and staying in a lot of places then taking suitcases will mean lugging them from hotel to hotel. I think it depends on how much you take in your suitcase. If you are staying a long time and have to bring two suitcases then the stuff won't fit in a backpack.

    Downtime In Hotel...

I usually bring a book with me or my tablet and will occupy myself with that. Sometimes I will go for a swim, if there is a pool. It might be interesting to watch Indian TV or search for channels that are in English.

    Rainy Days On Vacations

I hang out at the hotel and swim or take a break if it's really pouring out. Otherwise I would ask the person at the desk if they have any ideas on places to visit out of the rain. They can usually give you a list of places to go that are inside. Can't let rain ruin your vacation!

Is It Safe For Women To Travel Alone In India?

I agree about trusting your instincts when you feel unsafe. Book some tours and stay with the group is probably the best option if you're traveling alone. At least that way you may have fellow countrymen or people who are new to the area and you won't be visiting anything alone.

    Parks With Lots Of Trees?

Is there camping available at these parks? I think the only way you can truly enjoy being in a forest area is to camp overnight. Is there a restriction on camping in this area because of the wildlife?
