It's definitely better to travel in groups, and safer and could be more pleasant too. I wouldn't go alone in a foreign country, although that has it's advantages as well, like the freedom.
it's always recommended to travel with a few other people, just to ensure safety...but Delhi is big advanced city so I assume it's safe for women and children. but you can never be sure, so be cautious.
Like most people, I can't stand lack of cleanliness. and bed bugs could be really annoying and destroy your happy travel. I'd pay more to stay in a clean place.
you can't really trust the Trip adviser, they could rate bad hotels high. and I don't think 5 stars really worth it because I don't care about luxury, I think motels in the country or beside a beach are the best.
I'm sure the drivers will charge you enough so don't tip them unless you're feeling they really deserve it. sometimes you get lucky and a kind driver picks you up and helps you a lot during you're tour to his country, in that case it's ok to tip him to show that you're thankful.
Indians care a lot about their family and believe in traditional marriage, and as mentioned above they have a conservative approach toward sex. the women don't let their bodies be exposed so be extra careful when communicating with their women.
