1. Sabarmati Ashram (Gandhi Ashram): A place that has huge significance to the freedom movement of India. The Ashram, established by Gandhi ji in 1917, lies by the side of Sabarmati river in a peaceful ambience. 'Hridaya Kunj', a simple cottage where Gandhi ji used to live, is listed as a National Monument under the ASI. There is a museum, Gandhi Memorial Center, which has a great collection of articles from Mahatma Gandhi's life. 2. Kankaria Lake: A man-made wonder constructed during the rulings of Sultan Qutubub-Din in 1451. It is a popular recreational center in Ahmedabad which has a well-maintained park, an aquarium, a boat house, a museum and a mini zoo. There is a small island in the middle of this huge circular-shaped lake. The island has a garden and a palace which was used by the Sultan as his summer residence. The palace is known as Nagina Wadi. Also there is a toy train to take the tourists around the lake.
3. Adlaj Vav: Adlaj Vav is a chiseled stepped well constructed by Queen Rudabai in the year 1499. This five stories well was used to conserving rain water. It is counted among the finest architectural marvels in the state of Gujarat.
4. Bhadra Fort-cum-Palace: This palace-cum-fort structure was constructed in the 14th century. This huge fortified enclosure has as many as 10 entrances. There is a royal palace, temple and garden inside the fort complex.
5. Rani Roopmati Mosque: Constructed between 1430-1440 AD, this architectural marvel is known for its richly carved minarets and perforated stone works on the exterior wall. Popularly known as Masjid-e-Nagina, it is one of the most sought-after historical attractions in Ahmedabad.
If you still have time in hand after covering all the five attractions mentioned above, then you can also visit Hussain Doshi's Gufa, Jhulta Minar, and Sardar Patel National Museum.
