How To Book Flight Tickets?

I will be traveling by air for the first time with my father, so it will be the first time that we will be booking flight tickets.
I would like some advice on the best way to book flight tickets so that I can get the best price for the tickets.
Please also mention if booking online or at a travel agent would be best.

I am giving you advice based on my personal experience.

What I generally do is first look online for flights, and I pretty much search all the websites. I make sure I take note of the pricing and also explore with the different dates. I then also call up some travel agents and ask them for a quote, and then simply compare the prices and whoever offers the best price I go with them.
