How to reach Goa?

I am from Punjab (Pathankot) and have plans to go Goa for a one week holiday. There is no main airport where we live, and I have not clue to how long the journey would take if we take a train to Goa.

I need some help and advice on how I would reach Goa from Punjab.

1. Which would be the easiest way to reach Goa?

2. How long would a train journey take from Punjab to Goa?

3. If we take a flight to Goa, what would be the estimate cost?

4. Would it be a good idea to take a train to New Delhi then take a flight from there?

5. Are there flights available from Amritsar to Goa?

There are also private buses from Pathankot to Delhi, here are their timings:

• Hari Travels AC Seater/Sleeper - Departs from Bypass in Pathankot at 8:00 pm and 10:30 pm. Arrives the next day in Delhi at 5:00 am and 7:00 am. Duration of journey is about 9 hours or more. Fare is at Rs. 800 per passenger.
