Leh (monasteries)

In doing research I came across a description of Leh, where many monasteries are located. I was really moved by the images in particular and now I'm thinking of a more spiritual, relaxing trip to India rather than an adventure-filled, always-doing-something type of vacation. Has anyone here ever been to see the monasteries in Leh? I'm wondering how many of them are tourist friendly.

I have been to Leh many times and it is a lovely place. Leh does get a lot of snow in winters which is now and is at a high altitude so it is best to go there in Summer.

What does tourist friendly mean for you? (In regards to Monasteries).
