During the on going SAARC summit Nepal visit Prime minister Modi inaugurated the daily bus service between Kathmandu and New Delhi. The buses will be run by DTC (Delhi transport corporation) and all volvo buses that are air conditioned.
Fair for the journey is Rs 2300 per person and the bus stops every 5-6 hours en route for meals but it won't take more passengers on the way. It is a 30-hour journey each way.
From New Delhi, the bus will leave every day from Ambedkar stadium bus terminal.
Important Details
1. Necessary Travel Documents:
Indian and Nepali Nationals are required to have a government issued photo ID
Citizens of countries other then India and Nepal are required to have their passport and visa for India and Nepal.

3. Delhi to Kathmandu bus Fare:
Passengers aged 12 Years & above - Rs.2300/- per person
Above 2 years but below 12 years -Rs.1500/- per person
Up to 2 years - Can travel free of cost with parents but will not be allocated a separate seat.
4. Advance Booking of Delhi to Kathmandu bus tickets:
Tickets can be booked upto two months in advance but would need an identity proof and photo copy of those ID's will also need to be submitted.
5. Refund Towards Cancellation:
Cancellation in less than 24 Hrs. of Scheduled Departure - No Refund
Cancellation between 24 Hrs. and less than 72 Hrs. before Scheduled Departure - 50% refund
Cancellation more than 72 Hrs. before the Scheduled Departure - 75% refund
6. Duplicate Ticket:
In case the loss of ticket is reported by a passenger before commencing journey against a Police Report (NCR), fresh ticket is issued to him/her as 'Duplicate Ticket' against payment of administrative charges of 25% of actual fare, subject to verification of identity of passenger.
7. Baggage:
Maximum of 29" long suitcase with a perimeter of 60" weighing up to 25 kg. is permissible along with one shoulder bag. Free luggage will not be allowed to children below 12 years except a handbag of reasonable size.
8. Guidelines for Packaging:
No valuables such as cash, jewellery, cameras, negotiable papers or business documents should be placed in checked-in-luggage.
9. Restricted Luggage:
Hazardous articles (prohibited by law) are not allowed such as acids, match-boxes, fluids, poisons, flammables, explosives or compressed gas.
10. Cabin Baggage:
One small handbag is allowed to be kept in the bus cabin.
11. Liability:
Baggage and passenger liability is limited by Law/Convention under the jurisdiction of Govt. of India Laws. All buses are insured as per Indian Motor Vehicles Act for commuting passengers between Delhi & Kathmandu and DTC is not liable for any claim/loss whatsoever.
12. Check-in One Hour Before Scheduled Departure:
The passengers are requested to report at the Terminal at least one hour before the scheduled departure of the bus. Reservation will be cancelled if the passenger fails to report for check-in well in time.

Departure from Delhi (Dr. Ambedkar Stadium Bus Terminal, Delhi Gate) - 10:00 AM IST
Departure from Kathmandu ( Swayambhu) - 09:00 AM NST
14. Halts:
The bus will halt at three places viz. Firozabad, Faizabad (Uttar Pradesh, India) & Mugling (Nepal). In addition, the bus will also stop at Sanouli (India-Nepal Border) for Customs checking. Passengers travelling between Delhi & Kathmandu will not be allowed to disembark/embark en route except at the halts indicated above.

The bus will halt at designated halts where the passengers can have food/refreshment at their own cost.
