NRI visiting Lakshdweep Islands

Hi forum members, I have been reading the thread 'Which beach to visit in India?' and have read a post where someone has stated that there are problems like restrictions and permit issues. I would like some more information on these restrictions and permit issues, so that I can decide whether it is a good idea to visit the islands or not.

Agathi island which is the main attraction has been closed for entry due to some legal problem between the government and resorts. The only way I know to manage this permission thing is by going through a travel agent who takes responsibility for all permissions and arrangements.

I personally feel Andaman is a far better choice.

For Andaman islands you would need a permit that you can get from immigration authorities at one of the international airports or the Indian high commission or embassy at your country of residence. This permit is given for 30 days.
