I am going to be in Delhi for two days and in the two days I want to make a visit to Agra, as the stay is very short I was wondering whether it is actually possible to make a day trip to Agra or not. The main attraction I want to see in Agra is the Taj Mahal anything extra I can fit in would be a bonus. Please suggest.
It is very much possible to make a day trip and a lot of people do that so it wont be a first. If you can afford half of the next day then Bharatpur bird sanctuary can also be included or otherwise if you only want to keep it to one day then leave early morning for Agra and visit the Taj mahal early morning then go to the Red fort which should both be covered before mid day ideally. Leave for Fatehpur sikri and see the Buland darwaza there and the palaces and fort. If you still have time and there is more then two hours remaining for sun down then head to Bharatpur where you can spend the last hour or so watching the beautiful birds but I doubt if it is doable. Please have a read through this thread : What to see in Agra
If you can stretch your trip to one and half days it would be good, that way you can see everything without having to rush or being tired. However if you have no issues with getting tired then by all means you can make a days trip. You would have to start off early though and leave for Agra from Delhi around 5am.
Take the Taj expressway if you are taking a taxi. Covering Taj and the red fort in one day is fine and lots of people do that.
