Places to see Near Chennai Airport

I have a 14-hour layover from my flight and as the duration is quite a lot so I thought that it would be good to go and explore some of Chennai.

I do not want to go too far and would preferably love to see places which are near Chennai Airport. Please provide a list of the places to see near Chennai Airport and whether I can cover seeing these places in a day.

Chennai airport is located at an area called Trisoolam. It's on the outskirts of Chennai city. You don't have much to visit there. However, you have St.Thomas Mount nearby. You may visit to get a bird's eye view of the city.

Here's some places you can visit near Chennai Airport:

• The Radisson Blu Hotel. Explore the hotel or maybe try eating at their restaurant. It's a 5-star luxury hotel in the Chennai area. It is a mere 10 minutes away from the airport and you can ride a taxi to get to the hotel. Their restaurant is named The Great Kabab Factory, which has tender and scrumptious kebabs. Along with that, there's tons of seafoods to choose from.

• Thyagayara Nagar. This is about 13.9 kms from the airport so a 30-minute ride away. This town is considered as the largest shopping district in India when it comes to revenue. You can buy items like sarees and jewelries from here. There are also some parks and greeneries around the area. There's the Panagal Park, Dr. Natesan Park and Jeeva Park. There's also some private libraries around the area. Food is also available in some areas of the town.

• St. Thomas Mount. This is a small hillock located very near the airport. It is about 300 metres above sea level and has a great view of the city at its peak.

• Samudra Restaurant. This is about 0.6 km from the airport. They specialise mostly on seafood dishes.

• Rucira Drive-In Restaurant. This is about 1 km away from the airport. They have North and South Indian cuisines. They also have a nice selection of vegetarian entrees.
