Places To Visit In Manali

I am going Manali during mid april and the trip duration would be for a week. I need some recommendations for places to visit in and around Manali, not too far out though. I don't mind the kind of place but it should be different and obviously popular

Well, are you interested in outdoor activities, or cultural sightseeing? You could go visit Naggar Castle, which is a small castle of some architectural importance. Or you could go to Beas River, or Solang valley. Both are great for hiking, in my opinion. There can also be snow, depending on the time of year. I have heard there is good skiing, too, but cannot confirm that. The meltwaters can also raise the rivers, quite a bit, so some sites are not able to be visited all year round. Whatever you choose, make sure the time of year allows for it.

• Hidimba Devi Temple. This has a four-tiered roof pagoda and the temple itself is dedicated to Hadimba Devi. It has some intricate wooden carvings depicting mythological characters.

Parks

• Great Himalayan National Park. This is about 68 kms from Manali but very much worth it visiting. There's about 375 fauna species in here. The Snow Leopard and the Himalayan Black Bear are just some of the animals you might see.

• Pin Valley National Park. This is about 70 kms from Manali and you can also see various endangered animals here.

• Manali Sanctuary. The forest itself is a mixture of Deodar, Walnut, Kail and Maple trees. The Musk Deer is a common sighting in here.

Others

• Vashisht Hot Water Springs. Believed to have healing properties for various skin diseases and illnesses.

• Beas River. A popular picnic spot for families.
