Overview

Located on the outskirts of Hyderabad, about 20 kilometres away from its centre, is the Ramoji Film City. It is known as the biggest integrated film centre in the world. This is the place to be to understand the process and the props used in film making. It is comparable to the Universal Studios, built on an Indian theme, of course. But you can also find sets depicting different places in the world here. Children mostly enjoy the in-house amusement park here, which has a few rides to keep them busy for a while. And if you're lucky, you might be able to spot celebrities shooting here, as the centre/studio accommodates up to 150 film sets per month!

Tour Packages in Ramoji Film City

Tour packages in the Ramoji Film City constantly changes, so it's best to view the official website of the company prior to booking your ticket. As of now, they have three packages in offer for tourists. We will highlight these packages below, what they include and how much they cost.

1. General Day Tour - The General Day Tour is the most affordable package. Your tour begins by boarding a non air-conditioned vintage bus which would take you around the different sets in the Ramoji Film City. A tour guide is also included whom explains the different portions in the area. You would also be allowed to hop off the bus at certain points, not all points, so you can see the sets up close. After that, you would be taken to Fundustan, which is the amusement park proper, mainly an attraction for children. Next would be to take a behind the scenes look of how a film is made and as a bonus, there's an action stunt show that is performed as well for tourists. The package also includes complimentary rides for adults in the amusement park. Meals are not included although the itinerary includes a short break for lunch in the food court within the film city.

• Rates - Rs. 1,000 for adults and Rs. 900 for children.

• Entry time - 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

• Opening time - 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.

• Tour duration - Whole day or depends on the visitor's time table.

• Inclusions - Entry ticket, guided tour, amusement park, complimentary rides and shows.

• Exclusions - Meals and tickets for some rides in amusement park.

2. Ramoji Star Experience - The Ramoji Star Experience is more of a premium type of package. Upon arrival, you are seated in the premium lounge and given some welcome souvenirs. It has the same elements as above but instead of a non air-conditioned bus, you are taken around by a mini air-conditioned bus. It's a guided tour as well and you are taken around the different sets in the film city, with some sets approachable as well. After the guided tour, you can opt to use your complimentary tickets for the amusement park. By lunch time, a buffet would be served for guests, where you can enjoy North Indian, South Indian and Chinese dishes. Next would be the shows, which are also featured in the above package, the difference is that, you're allowed to jump queues because of your type of ticket. You're also given a complimentary coupon to be used on the shopping centre called Eureka.

• Rates - Rs. 2,099 for adults and Rs. 1,899 for children.

• Entry time - 9:00 am to 11:30 am.

• Opening time - 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.

• Tour duration - Whole day or depends on the visitor's time table.

• Inclusions - Access to premium lounge, welcome souvenirs, entry ticket, guided tour on air-conditioned bus, amusement park, complimentary rides, buffet lunch with bottled mineral water and express entry to shows.

• Exclusions - Tickets for some rides in amusement park.

3. Ramoji Movie Magic - The Ramoji Movie Magic is a very simple package including just a guided tour of the film city along with a lunch in an air-conditioned restaurant. The guided tour is in an air-conditioned bus as well, and takes you through the different sets in the film city. However, this package does not include complimentary rides to the amusement park nor entry to shows. It's suitable though for adults who don't have children with them anyway. But if you'd like to enjoy the rides, it's better to choose the first package and just eat lunch at the film city's food court, prices aren't that high anyway.

• Rates - Rs. 1,499 for adults and Rs. 1,299 for children.

• Entry time - 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.

• Opening time - 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.

• Tour duration - Half day or depends on the visitor's time table.

• Inclusions - Guided tour on air-conditioned bus and lunch on air-conditioned restaurant.

• Exclusions - Tickets to rides in the amusement park.
