    Attractions - Mountains, Trekking,
    State - West Bengal
    Region - East India

Nearest Airport - Bagdogra (IXB) - 117 KM

What's so unique about Sandakfu (or Sandakphu)? Well, it's the only place on earth from where you can catch four of the five highest mountain peaks of the world in a single panoramic photo-frame - Mount Everest, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and Lhotse. Isn't it amazing? That's precisely is the reason why trekkers and hikers from all over the world are so fanatic about Sandakfu. In-fact it is considered as the holy grail of Indian trekking.

Situated in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal at an altitude of over 3630 meters, Sandakphu is a wonderland for the trekkers. It is not only the highest point in the Singalila range, but at the same time it is also the tallest peak in the state of West Bengal.

The 32 KM long Singalila-Sandakfu trek, which starts from Manebhanjan and concludes at Sandakfu, goes through the Singalila National Park. The forest trail is lined up with rhododendrons of various types, giant magnolias, spruce and wide range of amazing orchids. Spotting some of the rare animals like Red Pandas and Pangolins are not uncommon either. Don't be surprised to know that there are over 600 varieties of orchids in this area, the largest concentration in any single geographical area in the world.

    Hi there,

Thanks for this information. We are plannig to be there next October. How hard is this treck? We are 46 years old, not too much trekkers, but we like to walk. If taking only a part of this trail, what would you recommend? from the entrance to the nature reserve up to Kalipokhri, or from Kalipokhri to Sandakfu? (Which is easier? Which is more attractive?)

    Thanks!
