Anyone Else Who Likes Bollywood?

I remember channel surfing as kid looking for something interesting to watch on cable when I stumbled upon a movie channel that featured a song and dance number of Indians in bright and colorful costumes. It reminded me of the older local films we've had that includes song and dance features but India definitely does it with more flair. I love that they are very nationalistic and the promotion of music and culture is so unique that foreigners bit into it like a good cuisine. Donning up a costume and dancing, if ever given the chance, I'd definitely not miss the opportunity to be a part of something magical.

I once had the chance Bollywood movies in high school. I could no longer remember the titles. What I love about them is the colorful costumes, and the dance sequences are so much fun to watch. What I hate though is the length of the films. They have the tendency to be so long. I remember a speaker of Indian descent once said that when you watch a Bollywood movie, and you leave for a while for a CR break, you can do so without worrying that you miss out on something. Because of the length of the film, you rarely ever miss an important episode, haha!

I think it's too cheery and colorful for me. They always end up with a dance number of some sorts no matter what the situation. I like being immersed in the story, and as far as I can tell, most Indian movies I have watched were either too lighthearted (which is nice too) or too much of a comedic movie where the laws of physics don't really function that well for the characters. Still, it is part of their culture, and I can appreciate that, I just don't enjoy watching the movies that much though.

The Bollywood films aren't to everyone's liking that's for sure and while the storylines and acting can't be faulted, the sets and the costumes can be very colourful and not to everyone's tastes.

Bollywood films are a niche market and while they have broken through into mainstream culture, I think they'll always be aimed at certain sections of people rather than the masses.
