What are some of the most commonly used ad useful Hindi words that I should learn before traveling to India? I need a small list of courtesy expressions that I can use. I have tried looking on Google Translate, but the translations don't really make a lot of sense. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know Hindi, but I'm sure be interested to learn a few expressions, too. It will definitely help me should I get the opportunity to travel there? If someone can help with the translation. It will be much appreciated. Among the expressions I'd like to know is as follows:

I can can read,write and speak Hindi. However my skills are rudimentary. My main source of Hindi language is Bollywood. Later,I went to a college in India and sharpened my Hindi language skills. One of the complicated things in Hindi language, according to me is gender. In Hindi vehicle is a masculine word and train is a feminine word.

I can help with the first two, they are a little simpler. I am not sure how to ask the second two, but I can see how it would be good to know. I think it is important to at least try to talk a little bit in peoples native language. You cannot always expect people to come to you.

Well just like any language or expression that you have to learn when you travel, I think the most common and the best one for me was where is the bathroom and how much. I was really confused when it came to payments when I was over there, so that might be factoring into my thinking of why how much was so important, because I found myself saying that one a lot.
