Overview
The distance between Delhi and Manali is about 582 kilometres or about 12 to 13 hours of driving away. If you take public transportation though, the journey might be longer, at about 13 to 14 hours. If you intend to take a bus from Delhi to Manali, fortunately, there are direct ones for this route. The best part about them is that you have many options, from government-operated ones to privately-operated ones. The government-operated ones are very reliable but you have fewer options with them. The privately-operated ones have more options, some are affordable, some buses are more on the higher side.
Government-Operated Volvo Buses from Delhi to Manali
1. Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) Buses - The HPTDC operates two Volvo buses plying daily from Delhi's Mandi House until the main Mall Road of Manali. The journey duration is around 14 hours and fare is at Rs. 1,300 per person. The bus usually has two stopovers, one for dinner time, about five hours away from Delhi and another one early in the morning for tea plus a bathroom break. The bus usually stops for dinner at Mirchi restaurant in Ambala and a tea place an hour away from Manali. The timings for the buses would be listed below.
