Overview

The Delhi Zoo is more commonly known as the National Zoological Park of Delhi. The zoological park was established in the year 1959, after lots of planning and decision-making by the Government of India. For tourists, the zoological park is a nice break from the concrete jungles of the city. Here, you would be exposed to various flora and fauna at the same time. It is famed though for being home to two white tigers, which you can even spot fighting from time to time. A variety of other animals such as deers, sloth bears, leopards, royal Bengal tigers and rhinos can also be found within the zoo premises. If you want to go the local way or maybe you're on a very tight budget, an alternative is to go via bus. The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) operates one bus running from JLN Marg to the Delhi Zoo. The JLN Marg is just 0.6 kilometer or around a 4-minute walk from the JLN Stadium Metro Station. From here, you can board the DTC Bus No. 457STL which goes to the Delhi Zoo. Keep in mind that the last stop of this bus is the JLN Stadium so you need to alight before this stop. From the JLN Marg, the Delhi Zoo is the 12th stop, you can just inform the driver about your stop. Fare is very minimal for this transportation option, as compared to taking an auto rickshaw or cab, but the journey duration would be longer owing to the stopovers along the way. Bus frequency is usually every 10 to 15 minutes, depending on whether it's peak hour or not.

Conclusion

With the guide above, you can now plan your trip to the Delhi Zoo. This attraction of the city is easily accessible using the Delhi Metro with the JLN Stadium Metro Station being the closest metro station to it. You do need to ride an auto rickshaw, cab or bus to reach the zoological park proper from the metro station though as the distance can be too difficult to cover by foot especially on hot summer days. Good luck and I hope this helps you!
