Places to travel in India

My wife and I would love to visit India and have been looking at some destinations which all look amazing. As we would be first-time visitors to India, we are not sure whether some destinations are suitable or not.

We would like some advice from people living in India and others who live abroad and have traveled to India to which places to travel in India.

If it goes as planned, we would be able to stay in India for two weeks and would like to cover more than one destination.

India is a vast country and it all depends on your interest. Some like to visit historical places, some want to spend time at the beaches and there are others who are interested in wildlife Some seek mountains. There are great restaurants with exotic food.
In other words you name it and you will find it in India.
