Tourist place in West Bengal

I would like some suggestions on what tourist place in West Bengal I should visit. I will be visiting West Bengal with my mother, so it would be just the two of us and would like the area to be safe.

We want to stay in a place where we can easily get to visit places and like stated in the title it should be a tourist place.
 
There are many tourist places in West Bengal. It has mountains, sea, historical places and religious places, beside others. Will you please elaborate a little regarding which place do you fancy?
