Toy train from Coimbatore to Ooty

Hi

We are traveling from Pondicherry to Ooty (Udhagamandalam) and just hunting for the best mode of transport the best I can find so far is taking public transport (bus) from Pondicherry to Ooty but my kids want to take the toy train from Coimbatore to Ooty, is it a sensible idea or not and how much time it takes from Coimbatore to Ooty?

If we decide to make this train ride, then is it easy to get the tickets on the spot or do we need to pre-book the tickets in advance?

Taking the toy train is a good idea, and time it would take from Coimbatore to Ooty is around 3 and half hours. It would be a good idea to actually pre book the tickets in advance in case the train being fully booked when you arrive at the spot.

Rather than taking a bus I would suggest take the toy train, the trip would be more adventurous and a different way of travelling.
