Udaipur or Jaipur Which is Better

My family and I have been deciding on a lot of destinations for our holiday this, and we have come down to two Udaipur and Jaipur, and now we can not decide between the two.
Our holiday is only for seven days so we can not make both of the destinations as it would be a bit tiring and a few days would be gone in traveling plus the rest which is required after the driving.

Please advise Udaipur or Jaipur which is better?

Which destination has more to offer?

Both destinations have many attractions and have their own charm. For the most part, Jaipur is a crowded, business centre. There's lots of forts and palaces to visit here. It is also termed as the pink city. On the other hand, Udaipur is often dubbed as the most romantic place in India. You can visit famed lakes and palaces here. If you like buildings and architecture, no doubt that Jaipur is for you. If you like nature, then Udaipur is for you.

You asked which destination has more to offer, here's a list of the places you can visit in both:

Udaipur

• Lake Pichola. Ride a boat and explore the different islands in the lake. There's the Jag Niwas where the Lake Palace can be found. There's the Jag Mandir with the Jag Mandir Palace. There's the Mohan Mandir where the annual festival is held and the Bagore Ki Haveli can be visited. And lastly, there's the Arsi Vilas where a sanctuary can be found.
• Fateh Sagar Lake. You can visit it through Lake Pichola as well or through Moti Magra Hill.
• Ambrai Ghat. Visit during sunset for a great view of the Lake Pichola.
• Monsoon Palace. Also offers great views of Udaipur especially during sunset.
• Shilpgram. Shows rural life from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa.

Jaipur

• Amber Fort and Palace. It is set on a hill top and overlooks the Maota Lake. Visit at night to watch the evening light and sound show.
• City Palace. Combines Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. It also has a museum, art gallery and old Indian weaponry museum.
• Hawa Palace. It has about 900 plus windows. It is said that the royal women used to look in these windows and see city life as they weren't allowed to go out.
• Jantar Manar Observatory. Great for astronomy geeks!
• Nahargarh Fort. There's this cafe here which is perfect for snacks and enjoying the scenery from the fort.
• Jaigarh Fort. Great for military lovers, it has the world's biggest cannon on wheels.
• Monkey Temple. Find lots of monkeys inside the temple although it isn't much maintained.

As you can see, there's lots more places to see in Jaipur. But don't let that discourage you from visiting Udaipur. For me, the charm of Udaipur is that it is smaller and less crowded. The city's tourism aspect is one of its best parts. If you like walks, scenery and peace, then Udaipur is for you. Otherwise, if you like the hustle and bustle of city life, then choose Jaipur.
