I always wanted to start this poll to find out what people's opinion is about different states in India. I always find it difficult to understand why people from some states are considered to be misers or generous in some states and so on. Food from some states is considered to be very rich and people are proud of their local food and some states not so much.

I have added as many states as I could but I am hoping that Chahal or Admin would kindly add the names of all states as there is only field for ten options.

Please vote for the state you believe has the best people in your opinion and also post your reply telling why you voted the way you did.

I have set the closing date for this poll to 10 years so it would be an ongoing thing and the number of voters will increase over time to give us a better idea of what people think of people from different states in India.

I had the nicest experience in Goa with the locals. They're always so nice and accepting... and, very curious about other cultures and America! But, many countries in India have wonderful people in them and... just, like every place in the world there are also bad people.

I have found most Indians to be helpful, but really it is in the rural areas were hospitality really shines. I have gone into rural areas and people have invited me to meals, and shared what little they had. They did not even expect anything in return.

I have been to Rajasthan many a times and I've personally seen the warm welcoming attitude from the people of Rajasthan.
