Hi there, welcome to the forum!
Delhi, in terms of area, is the largest city in the country. Its size is estimated to be around 1,484 square kilometres or about 573 square miles. The capital of the country and also of Delhi is New Delhi. In terms of size, New Delhi is only 42.7 square kilometres. The largest district in Delhi is the North West Delhi with an area of 442.8 square kilometres.
On the other hand, we have Bangalore, which is a city in the state of Karnataka. In terms of size, it falls behind Delhi at about 741 square kilometres or 286 square miles. It is the second largest city in the country though after Delhi. Bangalore can be divided into two districts: Bangalore Urban District and Bangalore Rural District.
As you can tell, in terms of size and area, Delhi is comparatively larger than Bangalore. One great feature of Bangalore though is that is mildly elevated at 914 metres above sea level. Thus, the city experiences mild and pleasant climate almost all-year round. It's no wonder the locals in the city doesn't have to go to hill stations just to escape the city heat. Although summer season in Bangalore is still mildly warmer than the rest of the year, it's still bearable and you won't sweat like crazy, unlike with other cities of the country.
Bangalore is also home to numerous lakes. Unfortunately, many of these lakes have already dried up and has been turned into commercial and residential areas. There are still a few lakes worth visiting here though like the
Kaikondrahalli Lake, Ulsoor Lake and
Hebbal Lake. It's quite rare to spot wildlife in cities, right? But in Bangalore, you can relish in viewing many bird species in these lakes especially during migratory period in the winter season.
Numerous parks also give some breath of fresh air to the city. The must visit parks here are the
Jayaprakash Narayan Park, Cubbon Park and
Lal Bagh. These gardens provide some greenery to the tourists and locals alike. Here you would be able to relax and enjoy the pollution-free surroundings. Most tourists favourite is the
Lal Bagh, as you can find various species of roses and other flowers here. There's also a glass house here that you can visit.
You mentioned that you are interested in visiting museums. Well, Bangalore has plenty of that, from science museums to planetariums and even art museums. The
Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum is a great attraction especially if you have children with you. Here, complicated science concepts are explained in simple terms which is always helpful for younger ones. On the other hand, the
Heritage Centre and Aerospace Museum is a must visit to learn more about the aviation history of the country. If you're someone that loves art, you can visit the
National Gallery of Modern Art and the
Chitrakala Parishat Museum.
Of course, a visit to Bangalore won't be complete without exploring the
Attara Kacheri. With its red facade, it's kind of hard to miss in the city. This is where the High Court of Karnataka is located. Yet another must visit landmark is the
Vidhana Soudha, just opposite the
Attara Kacheri. In contrast, this building has a white facade and is the seat of legislature of the state.
If you're someone who loves historical attractions, there's the
Tipu Sultan Palace and Fort. It was built around the 16th century but was only completed in the 17th century. It has a long history behind it and its grand architecture and design are quite stunning. If you're up for an excursion, further from Bangalore about 35 kilometres away, there's the
Devanahalli Fort. Here you can find the various structures like temples and houses that the former rulers have built during their reign.
Bangalore also has many temples and religious places that you can visit. The main religious attraction here is the
ISKCON Temple, dedicated to both Krishna and Radha. Another must visit temple here is the
Bull Temple, dedicated to Nandi, Lord Shiva's vahana. A giant monolith statue of Nandi would greet you as soon as you approach the temple. There are also some churches here that you can visit like the
Infant Jesus Shrine and the
St. Mark's Cathedral.
Visiting all
these attractions might take a day or two. The good thing about these places to visit in Bangalore is that they aren't located at quite a distance from each other. You can easily hire a taxi for sightseeing since they are plenty anyway around the city.
I hope this helps!
